THE BLOOD ON THE DOOR by ARNETTA McCARTNEY
We must find a lamb that is worthy. Exodus 12:1-13 The blood on the door, How somber that first Passover night The challenge that faced the Israelite. For God’s instructions to be obeyed. A sacrificial lamb to be slain. “You must find a lamb that is worthy. Unblemished, perfect and bring it to Me. On the evening of the fourteenth day The people must be prepared to slay The lamb that you have chosen will be Killed this night as offering to Me!" "Place the blood on the door this night Your sandals on and girded for flight. Then at midnight when I pass through If the blood I see I’ll pass over you, But Pharaoh will not heed My voice His hardened heart will leave Me no choice.” “This night there will be a great cry, Because all of the first born must die. But when I see the blood on your door I will pass over you as I swore.” It was very long ago that night When the children of Israel took flight. But Today is a different story. For God as man stepped down from glory. The Lamb of God! On a cross of shame His blood poured out to take our blame. The blood of Jesus that flowed that day, Has cleansed and washed our sins away. For now He lives within our heart And promised we will never part. The blood! No longer on the door. Has washed us clean forevermore. |
