ODE TO A DREAMER

Let the dreamer dream his dreams
Although at times I'm sure it seems
That dreamers dreaming waste their time
Hoping, wishing, not earning a dime.

They wonder they wander from fact to speculation
Supposing imagining a world of their own creation
Watching themselves achieve what seems to be the impossible
Making themselves believe they can realize the implausible

An ideal too simple for friends to comprehend
A journey that to others seems to have no end
A task so arduous it couldn't possibly be finished
A mountain so high its peak seems to have vanished

Are things upon which dreamers stop and ponder
Amidst the daily grind of what to cook and what to launder.
Leaving behind the cares of everyday living
In search of a vision, to them, ever-inspiring.

The temptation is to discount them altogether.
Interrogate about their plans. Why? Where? How much longer?
But, just wait. Be patient and let them live out their vision.
Don't belittle or destroy what's likely come from God in Heaven.

And to you dear dreamer, whomever you may be
A dreamer writes this poem - a dreamer who can see
A vision that perhaps is not quite unlike your own
A vision that at times leaves her feeling all alone.

But let us be encouraged and be sure of what we hope for.
There's substance in what we do not see, and in that, much, much more.
All of creation came to be from that which is not visible.
Because of that we know for sure in Him all things are possible.

Glory to the Lamb on High who sits at The Father's right hand.
In that place some say is only a dream, many dreamers with Him stand -
King David, brother Joseph, and Peter the blessed Rock,
In Heaven, their dreams come true, forever now with Him they walk.
