TO JASON
by Pastor Dale Freeman
You had a rough time getting into this old world. You squeezed, and battered, and
brawled your way into the light. You looked, at first glance, like a prizefighter who had
gone just one long round too many. You, of course, got a lot better looking in the years
to come. I am happy to report, however, that your outside appearance is not the major
thing I prize.
I have watched you grow into a man of worth. God has blessed you with a gentle, caring
spirit, and this wondrous gift even outshines your extensive talent and creativity.
If I were hanging off a cliff on a rope, I would rather have you on the other end over
anyone else in the world. That, if you don’t recognize it, is a great compliment coming
from a father who loves you deeply.
The heart is a lonely hunter, seeking love and peace.
Sometimes it searches in the dark, and there becomes a beast.
My eldest son has a gentle heart, it’s always been the same.
He brings rich blessing to my soul, and honor to my name.
Love,
Dad
