INSPIRATION by Gini Moreau Look in the mirror and what do you see? Two warm, beautiful eyes that inspire me To fashion a poem filled with lots of surprises That might make you cry, or might make you wiser Or might make you retrieve a memory or two That may have left you feeling kind of blue About a time when you thought no one was around And even God couldn’t hear you, not even one sound. But, He told me all about that time. Really. Now, let me see... Yes, you were alone and crying, just as sad as you could be. Shall I write about it? Hmm... Or maybe it’s better left unsaid - Sad memories, when talked about too much, leave you feeling full of dread. How ‘bout you let me wrap these words around you Like arms full of love that have found you After days, years, of searching For the bearer of this secret memory in hiding As you lift the recollection from its hidden spot - Come on, dig it up, give it all you’ve got, Ignoring the advice of those who have said, “Bury it. Leave it alone. Forget about it instead - Here, I’ll take it for you and give it to our Father above. I know you can do this for yourself, but I do it out of love, Just so you understand that someone down here really cares And sees in you potential of which you are yet unaware. Those buried memories sometimes cloud our vision Filling eyes with tears and mind with indecision. And those eyes, by the way, bring me to the point. They must be clear, looking at me, as it is you He did appoint To encourage and inspire words hidden in my heart. There is no other who can do it. We are His work of art Yet, unfinished, purposely, until the time When He chooses to take one home, and there draw the final line Upon this canvas of our earthly lives That bring Him glory, by which others thrive In this beautiful Kingdom planted deeply inside Your warm and beautiful, inspiring eyes. |
